Consult the Manual
If you still have the owner’s manual for your electronic systems (that junk drawer full of instructions will finally come in handy), make sure to consult them before packing/moving anything. They might include instructions about removing batteries or cartridges, or about disassembly and reassembly that are important.

Label Cords
Most electronics come with cords. Most people have a lot of electronics. You don’t always want to stick the cords in the same box as the electronic because of the risk they will scratch screens. That means most people who are moving end up sitting in their new home with a pile of cords in a box unsure of what goes where.
When you’re packing, always stick some tape to each cord and label it according to which electronic it goes with. Don’t forget if you have more than one of a certain thing to label accordingly (downstairs TV, John’s Computer, etc.).

Be Aware of Temperature
Smart systems and electronics can be sensitive to temperature. If you’re moving in the summer or winter when it can get very hot or cold outside, be aware of the time your electronics will have to spend in that environment.
A good tip for packing electronics in the cold is to use clothes or sheets to pack them in addition to bubble wrap or other wrappings. This will help keep them insulated and warm. It might be the case that you have to take sensitive electronics with you in your personal vehicle rather than in the moving truck so they can be packed last and quickly unloaded into your new home.

Don’t Pack Screens with Newspaper
Things like TVs, computers, and tablets shouldn’t be packed using newspaper as a wrapping, especially if you’re moving long distance and they’ll be in boxes for a longer amount of time. This is because newsprint ink can transfer onto screens, and thicker paper can even scratch delicate screens. Stick with bubble wrap (use it inside out to avoid bubble marks) and fabric.
