HAPPY BUBBLE WRAP APPRECIATION DAY!

Bubbly Wrap Day | Two Small Men

Everyone loves bubble wrap – including us (and not just because we use it to help you pack). In fact, we love it so much, we wanted to pay homage to this poppable crowd pleaser by honouring National Bubble Wrap Day (yes, it’s totally a thing)!

SO MANY POSSIBILITIES…

So much more than just a way to protect our valuables (or relieve stress and anxiety), bubble wrap serves many great purposes. So instead of tossing your bubble wrap in the recycling bin after your move, consider reusing it for any of the fun or handy reasons below:

1. Make a Calendar

Making a bubble wrap calendar is easy. Just lay out a piece of bubble wrap on top of the numbers 1-31 so each bubble sits on top of a number. Then write the days of the week above each row. Your family will soon be fighting over who gets the satisfaction of popping the day’s bubble.

In a similar fashion, cutting out one row of bubble wrap also makes for a fun way to check off items on a to-do list.

2. Protect Fruits and Veggies

Your fridge drawers are designed to keep fruits and veggies at the right temperature, but they’re not as good at keeping them protected from bruising when rolling around. Lining the drawers with leftover bubble wrap from your move will keep them safe and protected.

Got a fridge that tends to keep things a little too cool? Bubble wrap is also an excellent insulator, so adding it to a drawer can also help keep produce from freezing.

3. Shield Your Plants

We all want to enjoy our plants as long as possible, but an early or sudden frost can kill them faster than you can say “I love bubble wrap”.

After you move your plants to you new home, take the bubble wrap you have left and put it around planters to insulate the soil and keep it warm during cold nights. When there are frost warnings, use the wrap as a blanket cover your plants as well.

4. CREATE SOME ART

Bubble wrap art is a fun activity for kids. All you need to do is cut out a few fun shapes, roll them around in a little paint and dab them onto paper. Kids will love mixing colours and making patterns, plus they’ll get to have fun popping all the leftovers.

5. GET A GRIP

Sometimes the wooden or plastic handles of brooms, rakes, shovels, and even small tools can be uncomfortable and cause blisters or slivers. By simply wrapping bubble wrap around then, you can not only make it more comfortable, but also improve your grip.

6. Pamper Your Feet

Did you know bubble wrap can help relieve your tired and achy feet? Because of its texture, it has a soothing massage effect. Simply cut it to fit the shape of your shoes and voila! A no-cost pair of insoles.

7. Take it Camping

Bubble wrap makes for a great mini-mattress if you find your self laying out on the hard ground. Opt to bring along a few thick sheets to put under your sleeping bag. Not only will you be more comfortable, it has an insulative affect – keeping you warmer too.
