We’re Moving to End Hunger! | Two Small Men

Move to end hunger || Two Small Men

School’s out for the summer! That means more than 20 million American and Canadian children who receive free or reduced-cost lunch at school are at risk of going hungry. In fact, all but the 3.9 million who participate in summer meal programs might be going to bed hungry.

It’s a sobering statistic to learn that 1 in 8 households in Canada, including 1.5 million children, are food insecure. While Canada doesn’t have a nation-wide school meal program, in Alberta more than 30,000 children are expected to participate in a free meal program in 2018-19 school year. The problem is that while school takes a break in the summer, hunger does not.

Eradicate Hunger || Two Small Men

At Two Small Men, we want to help. Not just with school children facing hunger this summer, but with ending hunger for all 4 million Canadians who deal with food insecurity. That’s why we’re proud to announce our new partnership with Move for Hunger!

About Move for Hunger

Move for Hunger is a charitable organization formed in 2009 that partners with moving companies to collect and distribute food donations across Canada and the U.S.A By doing this, the organization is creating one of the largest year-round service programs.

In fact, by 2012, they had collected 1 Million pounds of food to be donated, and by 2016 that number had increased to over 7 Million pounds. We’re so excited to be able to help this number continue to grow and, if you’re planning a move, we hope you are too!

How Does it Work?

When you hire a moving company that is partnered with Move for Hunger (that’s us!) it’s easy to donate food to a good cause. All you have to do is set aside non-perishable food items you don’t want to take with you (and really, who wants to move boxes full of cans across the country). On moving day, just let us know you have a donation, and our movers will pack up the food, and then deliver them to a local food pantry.

It’s so easy, and convenient, there’s practically no reason not to do it. Plus, you’ll feel good knowing you’re making a difference in the lives of a Canadian family struggling with food insecurity.

You can book your move with us through Move for Hunger if you want to, but you don’t have to do it that way in order to donate. You can still get your free moving estimate from our website and book that way.

You Could be Our First Donation!

Summer is the busiest time of year to move. It is also the hungriest time of year, especially for children. So we’re starting this new partnership at exactly the right time. We’re ready to get our first donation for this great organization – if you’re moving soon, that donation could be you!
